Park signs new contract with United

Manchester, England (Sports Network) - Ji-Sung Park has signed a new two- year contract with Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford through the 2012-13 season.

Park, 30, first signed with United in the summer of 2005 from PSV Eindhoven. He has gone on to make 177 appearances with the club, recording 24 goals.

"Ji has been an important player for us for a number of years now," Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson released in a statement. "He has great ability and energy and in recent seasons has added the knack of scoring important goals in big games. He is a popular member of the squad and his experience at domestic and international level is invaluable for the younger players."
